Cyclist Struck by Pickup Truck Sued for $700 in Damages

Cyclist Struck by Pickup Truck Sued for $700

On January 10, 2020, a cyclist riding home on his bicycle was struck from behind by a pickup truck.  Luckily the cyclist escaped serious injury but unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it.

A month later he received notice from the courthouse that he was being sued by the driver of the pickup truck for $700 in damage to his car.

Although he was not initially inclined to sue, the cyclist filed a counterclaim for $2,500 for the value of his bicycle and the injuries and aggravation associated with the accident.

Often times, cyclists are concerned about what to do if they are injured in an accident.  We advise cyclists to know the rules of the road, wear visible clothing, and make sure your bicycle is equipped with the proper lighting and reflectors to allow others to see you.

Most often, we represent cyclists who were injured in an accident.  However, we also help cyclists who are sued by others for accidents they allegedly caused like the one discussed above.
